National Sales Director - USA & Canada

The Sales Director USA & Canada leads all sales efforts within USA & Canada. As such, the person is responsible for the P&L, channel management, customer contacts, training & education and product support. The individual also has the responsibility to develop sales and distribution strategies and build an effective and efficient channel management strategy in line with the growth expectations of the company.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the daily sales and deliver the monthly, quarterly and yearly targets
  • Establish annual sales and qualitative targets for employees and distributors in collaboration with Sr. Management and deliver on those targets
  • Determines and monitors sales and profit goals. Responsible for the planning and realization of short, middle and long term key performance indicators of the sales department.
  • Build and develop a professional, motivated and engaged organization. Hire top talent and establish developmental plans for all employees
  • Provide sales and product forecast on a monthly bases and work with Customer Service and Supply Chain Management to secure adequate product flow
  • Develops and manages Distributors and territories.  Analyzes and categorizes existing distributors, systematically search and acquires new distributors for open territories or product lines not represented, or replace distributors not meeting their targets
  • Support the B2B sales implementation (installation, training, after sales, etc.) and represent the B2B activities with the IMR groups.
  • Continuously review performance of the distribution channel and provide strategic direction to further optimize the channel and deliver on the growth objectives of the company
  • Conducts distributor performance reviews (sales results, lost and won opportunities, open opportunities, rep training, compliance, QM, etc.) with senior management on a monthly basis and with Distributor Principles on a routine basis (i.e. quarterly)
  • Conducts staff appraisals, sets and monitors individual and department goals. Determines training requirements in the department.
  • Develops, documents and implements sales strategies and programs in order to secure market and mind leadership position.
  • Collect market intelligence and collaborate with marketing to establish market models and identify growth opportunities
  • Develop, execute and monitor training and education programs for internal and external partners as well as for health care professionals
  • Establish congress strategy and leverage the company presence at congresses in all of our sales and marketing efforts
  • Support the product management efforts in collaboration with GmbH. Participate in R&D and product development efforts and build KOL and center of excellence programs.
  • Responsible for the representation of the company as an innovative, efficient and modern business

Job Requirements / Specific Experience / Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • MBA desired with 5 years of work experience or 10 years of related work experience
  • Strong sales experience in medical devices, ideally neurosurgery, spine or orthopedics. In-depth knowledge of operating room environment
  • Experience in supporting and managing distributor organizations and direct sales reps
  • Strong leadership skills in managing and developing talent
  • Strong ability to develop, document and communicate strategy and vision
  • Strong analytical skills as well as problem-solving competence
  • High degree of business acumen, high performance and above-average commitment
  • Highly organized, strong time management, responsive with excellent follow-up and team worker
  • Very good knowledge of common Windows applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
